I titled the “about me” portion of the site “The Runner” even before I began physically running. Funny how things work out. It’s an extension of “pressing on…”, which comes from Philippians 3:14:
I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
It made sense for the author of a site named “pressing on…” to be the runner, right?
My name is Brandon German. As of this writing, I am 37 years old, but don’t feel like it most days. Days after a race I feel more like 73. I live in Birmingham, Alabama, where I work as a software developer for a small business with a great group of people. I’ve been there for a little over ten years. I’ve been married to my lovely wife Kelly for almost that long. We don’t have any children yet, but we have two dogs that act like them sometimes!
I am a deacon at Meadow Brook Baptist Church here in Birmingham, and am also active in the choir, men’s ministry, and our Builders for Christ team, which takes part in annual construction-oriented missions projects.
As I mentioned earlier, I have taken up running as a hobby, and have run a marathon and seven half-marathons. I recently joined the Birmingham Track Club, so I’m looking forward to taking part in what they have to offer! I also enjoy most sports, but especially college football. (I lovingly maintained a college football fight songs site for years; it is still part of the main site, but it’s been retired from further work.) I am more of a web consumer than producer nowadays, new site notwithstanding, but I still enjoy computers, smartphones, and technology in general.
You can also follow me on Twitter if you like. I’m an intentional Facebook holdout.
