Christian Poems
literarily, most of these are not my best poems...but
it's the message that's important

Provision
If You give me anything
It's more than I deserve
You're the Great Provider
I know You're with me all the way
You're holy and robed in majesty
But You take care of me every day
In You I am fulfilled
You're everything I need
But You give me so much more
If I will follow, you will lead
You said I'd have abundant life
And drink from an everlasting fountain
But You're also there to hold my foot
As I try to climb this mountain

Why?
Why do I wander around
When I know You're always there to lead me?
Why do I settle for less
When I know You've prepared me the greatest?
Why do I look to the left and the right
When I know You're waiting straight ahead?
Why do I let my desires control me
When I know Your direction is best?
Why do I keep my life for myself
When I know You're pulling it toward you?

Miracles Today
The earth may not shake and open prison doors,
But people can be shaken and set free.
We may not walk on water,
But we can be carried over the fire.
The water may not turn into wine,
But God's living water can quench our thirsts.
The 5,000 may not be fed,
But our hunger for purpose can be satisfied.
We may not be raised from the dead,
But we can be saved from a life that's much worse.
God's modern miracles may not seem quite so obvious,
But if we believe, we will see them undoubtedly.

Set Us Free
From the hypocritical masks we wear during the week
To the proper and holy aura we project on Sundays
From the shackles we've helped the world put on us
To the freedom we take for granted and abuse
From the material objects we place above You
To the void in our lives we seek to fill,
Set us free as only You can, Lord Jesus.

We Are Gathered Here
We are gathered here in Your house.
We are gathered here for Your glory.
We are gathered here in Your most holy presense.
We are gathered here for the unity of Your people.
We are gathered here in worship of You above all else.
We are gathered here for You, my Father.

If We Could Only
If we could only fight the temptations of the world,
His light would shine through everyone.
If we could only love as He loved,
His peace would easily exist.
If we could only live as we say others should,
His church would be a beacon on the world.
If we could only be as dedicated as He was,
His world would lift Him up.
If we could only recognize His power,
His people could make a difference.

You
You know our sins and our shortcomings.
We can keep no secrets from You.
You hear how we hurt those around us.
We might as well do it unto you.
You see how we hide from ourselves.
We can hide nothing from you.
You could give us the punishment we deserve.
We deny the extent of Your mercy.
Are we worth it, Lord?

They Would See You
They would see You in the rising sun
And in the beautiful rain
That pours on everyone
They would see You in the swaying trees
And in the colorful sky
That brings me to my knees
They would see You in the rolling sea
And in the fact
That You created me
If they could see You in my own walk
And if my actions were ones
That backed up my talk
