A Few Things About Our Trip to San Francisco
Tammy and I headed out west the weekend before last for Bobby and Helen's wedding. We got to do a lot of sight-seeing in San Francisco, though...here are a few highlights:
-
I had always heard this, and never believed it was true, but sure enough, the very first thing we saw in downtown San Francisco was a guy peeing on the sidewalk.
-
The Bay is ridiculously beautiful, and the weather was absolutely perfect the whole time we were there. From what I hear, we lucked out...
-
Alcatraz just might be the most under-whelming national landmark that I've ever seen.
- I'm really glad that we won't be renting another car until after Tammy is 25.
-
Whoever came upon what is now downtown San Francisco, hills and all, and decided that it would be a great place for a major city, was smoking something.
-
I think riding the cable cars was really cool, but I really got the sense that they were now there purely for tourists and weren't actually used by the people there to get around.
-
As previously stated, driving across the Golden Gate Bridge was very surreal. It's kind of like I think it will be if I ever see the Statue of Liberty...it's something that you've seen a million times in pictures and on TV, but then being there is just really weird.
- I think my wife is an official Blue Angels groupie.
- There will be more details and definitely lots of pictures when Tammy and I get around to putting them together for a page.
