A Few Things About My Visit to the Mall of America
As part of my work visit to Minneapolis/St. Paul, I felt obligated to head over to the Mall of America for a few hours (although this wasn't my first trip). Here are a few observations:
- Number of Orange Julius's in the Birmingham metro area: 0. Number of Orange Julius's in the Mall of America: 3. It's just not fair.
- One of these days, someone needs to explain to me how the largest mall in the US ended up in Bloomington, MN.
- A life-goal of mine is to spend one night being that creepy anti-social guy you see at Electronics Boutique or CompUSA who plays the sample video games all night but is just too old to not have something better to do.
- I used the restroom when I arrived at the mall. I didn't keep track of how long it took me to walk all the way around the first two floors of the mall, but I had to use the restroom again after I did.
- I got a pretty nasty blister while walking around a mall.
- As far as roller coasters go, the one inside the Mall is pretty lame. As far as indoor roller coasters inside of a mall go, it's not that bad.
- I counted three separate Victoria's Secret stores. I guess it's not a secret anymore.
- The Endangered Species store was closed. I'll spare you of the obvious joke.
- You just don't expect to get a ground floor parking place right next to the door twice in a mall that has a five-story parking deck.
- There is a U.S. Postal Service store in the Mall. You read that right...all the products with pictures of your favorite stamps...
- I think Bubba Gump Shrimp Company has pretty much cornered the market on trendy restaurants based on supporting characters from movies.
