It's hard to believe that I'm getting married in less than six weeks.
It's not as if the past six months have flown by or anything. They've probably seemed to go by a little faster than most half years since I've been so busy, but it's not a big blur or anything. At times, it even seemed to drag.
But in a way, it is amazing. It's incredible to think that six months ago my life was so totally different. Granted, I knew I was going to get engaged pretty soon, but I wasn't yet. Seven months ago, things were even more different from now...I was still living at home! So much has changed I wouldn't even know where to begin to describe it.
As I'm anxiously looking forward to July 28, it's hard to avoid looking past the next weeks. Judging from my calendar, you'd think the world was going to end on July 29...it's pretty much empty for the rest of the year. It's pretty full until then. As much as I'm looking forward to getting married, I've got to enjoy this time for many reasons.
It's my last weeks as a single guy. There are certain things, like not having to worry about what position I leave the toilet seat in, that I need to enjoy while it lasts.
There's also a lot of fun stuff happening between now and the wedding. Bobby's coming back from China, Brandon's hopefully moving to Birmingham, we've got a couple of wedding showers...there's just too much stuff to totally look past this time.
With as much fun as I have counting down the days (not just the countdown timer on the wedding web page...I have one in my cubicle at work too), this is a time to savor and enjoy. The wedding and marriage in general will be wonderful, but there's no reason the next 39 days can't be wonderful as well.
